I would give the addon five stars because I appreciate the seriousness and hard work behind it and I know how it feels to buy garbage on the Blendermarket, which is not the case with Hardops.

But I have too many concerns about something that I intended to include as a main piece in my workflow. Here they are:
    1. Too invasive. Once you install it, it is like a virus. Everywhere you go, there is hardops-related stuff. Not to mention that it overlaps (and overwrites somehow) the shortcuts of other addons.

    2. Too many unnecessary functionalities. I find some supposedly easy-to-use stuff that I don't get as second nature, no matter what. I do pretty much the same in vanilla Blender with one or two clicks more, but nothing else.

    3. It is too overwhelming. As the 99% of the software in this world, when you start with the addond, you will have the impression that it will take forever to use it with ease.

    4. It does not put anything new on the table. Moving the modifiers a little bit closer in the viewport and organizing them in a particular way that works for I don't know who. And yes, it puts the modifiers in the right order, which you can use just when you know how to take advantage of such an order.

    5. It is so presumably powerful that you cannot use it in almost any real-world situation out of the box-like robots. The useful functionalities are just anywhere inside the crow of features when you need something.

    6. The discord community looks more like a personal fan page of the addond's author. I hardly find anything useful in there.

    7. Boxcutter works in simple situations at the begging of the project or if you are a boxcutter ninja. For me, I don't see any real advantage at some point in the production.

    8. Addonds are supposed to do things simpler, better or extend the native functionalities in a way that would be impossible otherwise. Hardops is none of those cases. It gives you the same, in a totally unfamiliar way.

That being said, if the developer cleans up a bit of all the garbage instead of putting them in several places, gives several levels of access for different users' proficiency in the addond and makes it more of a secondary tool instead of an invasive pretending substitute for Blender, then it will get that missing 5 start.

Thank you for your comprehensive review. It will be taken into consideration for the next training term of our tools. Support can be misinterpreted easily into being a personal one on one training service when really we aim to assist users with finding their answers and then sending them on their way.

After serving customers for so long and so many, It has become apparent that is impossible to serve them all. You sound like one of the ones who could not have been pleased no matter the circumstance. That is fine. We are used to all types of people. Our usefulness is proportional to the user's own technical understanding. Keystroke efficiency is undervalued when the person is still coming to terms with fundamentals.

Our tools aim to maximize the potential of the user. We cannot accelerate the mind of the user no more than we can predict the issues one can face based on their unique system. I am glad you continue on using Blender because that is what truly matters.
No matter the level of attack we endure our work must go on. I thank you for you review and hope you have a glorious day. We will continue to update, refine and set the status quo for workflow efficiency.

Thank you again and keep blending!

Great work guys! this addon is a must-have! I highly recommend checking the free tutorials on youtube or BlenderBros.com, at the beginning, it might seem a bit overwhelming, but I must say, I have learned pretty much all the basics by practicing a little bit on the demos and It is really a game changer, it affects a significant the workflow in hard surface modeling and it gets very fun and intuitive to play around with this addon. Highly recommended!

When I make cuts to the model. There are places where I can only cut outward, but not inward. What is the problem?

I would love to give this more stars but I find it frustrating to use, particularly Boxcutter. Despite having object orientation selected, the cut ends up out in space somewhere. The other quirks I can chalk up to a lack of familiarity, but this makes it nearly useless. I didn't want to gripe about this here but I have been unable to find where I can submit a question. Supposedly this link had such a place, but couldn't find it. (https://hardops-manual.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq/#how-do-i-update-hard-ops-boxcutter). I'm using Blender 3.3 and yes, I did update to the latest version, closed and restarted Blender.

Thank you for your insight on the experience. When it comes to getting started with boxcutter, a playlist of tips was added to assist new users.

Having a drawing appear in an incorrect location is a result of selection typically. Default unmodified behavior draws on the surface of the selected object if the beginning of the operation is on the surface of the selected object.

The above link shows me enabling the latest version and demonstrating that aspect.
The next area to investigate is the alignment area.
      https://i.imgur.com/ys8GfMd.png
If set to object, it will align to the object if the drawing originates on the surface. If a surface is not detected, view is used in order to keep things moving.

The above demo should demonstrate that in action.

      I hope that is helpful.
When it comes to support on BM, on the side there is the ask a question button. https://i.imgur.com/bHwwoVt.png
Hope that helps you with getting support.

Thanks for your review. It's always helpful to know what pitfalls users experience so we may aim to curtail it. Send us a question if you require additional assistance.

One of the best addons for Blender and absolutely necessary for hard surface modeling.
