Excellent amount of information and sample files. Totally recommended if you're interested in rigging.
Compared to "humane rigging" (very good resource freely available on youtube or in blender cloud with sample files), Art of effective rigging has a lot more information and samples, and I liked the way everything is organized.

Mostly easy to follow. Being a rigging course, you're bound to get lost at some point. If that happens you can refer to the sample files, which are very organized.

There are subtitles for the videos in case you have problems following the instructor.

Y'know what! I am going to give this 5 stars before even starting the course! *****
For the simple reason, as a person who is brand new to blender (and 3D) I've declared this "national rigging week" for myself lol and after watching a myriad of youtoob vids and scouring the blender artists website etc.. it always seemed to lead back to this course and I'm dedicated to understanding this to the best of my abilities.

And as far as the language barrier thing I'm reading about I look at it differently, it is also a primer if I ever make it over to France hahaha, so there!
    :)
I will keep you posted on my success!

      I like your method 😂.
Hope it will still deserve these 5*

I think the subtitles will help you if you find my lovely froggy accent to strong 😉.

      Enjoy !

Totally love it!! my rigs so far were always as easy as possible and I'm not a very good rigger one might say. I've done some other tutorials mainly not for blender but always kept it and my animations as simple as possible. This guide has shown me new ways to rig in blender that I'd never have thought of. Totally great systems that allow for a much smoother and easier way to handle the rig which in the end moves much more natural with less "posing" steps!
That's when rigs actually start making fun I guess (after you set them up^^).
And I haven't even yet finished the course so far. So don't know what great things are in the second part ;)
The content is totally about a humanoid//biped character, no animals no anything else, but the systems that you learn here can be easily transferred. It opened my brain to a new way of rigging (regarding systems like footroll, eyes, etc). Many "systems" can be transferred also to other non-biped characters. It's like learning a new way of thinking towards creating rigs. Thank you so much for sharing such huge content for a very tiny price!

      Hi Oli,
Thanks for your kind words. I’m happy you did get the click and rigging now looks easier to you and more comprehensive. That was the goal of this course.

      Cheers,
      Pierrick

This is a very well-paced and thoughtful rigging course for Blender 2.8. I have been rigging in Blender for about two years now, and this taught me a better approach and tips for character rigging.

Highly recommended for those who want to have a stronger understanding of rigging in Blender that can be applied for things like video games.

    Hi Pierrick,

First and foremost, thank you for creating this course. Sadly, I would have to agree with Tim's comments mentioned above, however in your defense I do realize that English is not your native language, but at the same time this does not mean that I did not enjoy the course.

Thank you again for sharing your knowledge on rigging and for taking the time to compile a step by step learning flow

    Take care.

    Kind Regards,

    Bennie

I am a relatively experienced rigger, and this series still taught me a surprising amount that I didn't know, and creative new ways to approach things I already know. Bravo. This will take you to the next level no matter who you are.

This was a great video for me. What I particularly like is that it does not offend my intelligence, what I have experienced with some other lecturers. Everything is explained in detail and leaves room for me to explore. It keeps me attentive when I study and I always look forward to next chapter. I'm a beginner but I have no problems following, though there are more advanced things here.  I know that if I just stick to them I will have smart workflow to do whatever I want with my characters in the future. Thank you for sharing great stuff, collected in years of experience.

So far, the course was pretty detailed and well explained (I'm on the 2nd chapter). Some people might find the thick accent hard to understand, sometimes I found myself rewinding the last 10 seconds to try to understand what you said, but it's not a huge problem. The music tho... I'd rather have the background be dead silent instead of sometimes having the music clip be some kind of action music. It's really distracting and it would've been much better if there were no music at all or if it were something calming like jazz or something, I dunno. Can't say the course isn't giving out useful information, but it's these little nitpicks that really make it harder to watch. 3.5/5

      Hi Tin,

I'm sad you're not enjoying the course that much. Please not I will provide subtitles pretty soon. It should help.

      Cheers,
      Pierrick
