The humans are "real" looking.. but my mayor problem are the librarys. The originals are very poor in quantity AND quality. If you want to use for archiz, you need to have in mind that you dont have a lot of variation for the outfits.
HUMANS = Greats -- HAIR, SHOES, CLOTH = Poor.

Thanks for the feedback and review, Patricio! In regards to your concerns about the quantity of outfits, did you try out our new free 'Extra outfits' pack that we released last week? It adds outfits that, from user feedback, were most requested.
I'm sorry to hear you find the quality of the outfits lacking. They were mostly designed for medium distance viewing, not so much for very close. It's a difficult thing for us to balance the quality of the garments while still not making them so high poly that they can't be used in real time applications anymore. If you have specific points regarding the outfit quality you'd like to see improved, we'd love to hear so we can improve them if this is possible without making them too poly heavy.
We are also currently working on adding both more hair styles and increasing the quality.

Let me know if you have any further questions

I tried version 1 and had problems with crashes on my Mac Pro 2013 and AMD graphics cards, but definitely want to come back again because the add-on is phenomenal.
To that end, a question and a request:
Is the add on compatible and tested with the Apple M1 architecture?
As a suggestion: The standard probs, clothes and shoes were excellent. Since I mainly illustrate in the SF genre and like to work with templates, I would like to see more specific content, specifically science fiction clothing, helmets, etc.
Do such content packs already exist?
I am very curious about the further development of the add-on. For me, an absolute highlight for Blender.

      Thanks for reviewing, Thomas!
To answer your question, yes the add-on has been thoroughly tested on Mac and recent updates have even been partly developed on an M1 machine. Due to a rare Blender bug a very small percentage of Mac users run into a crashing issue, and we were sorry to hear this also happened to you. It's very hard for the us or the Blender devs to reproduce this issue, since it happens so rarely. We of course give full refunds in this case.
For science fiction clothing: in the latest free 'extra outfits' pack we added a flight suit and a lab tech outfit based on requests for sci-fi options. We are looking at increasing these options further in the future, but will of course have to balance this based on what category the users would like to see most.

This is one really valuable add-on to Blender. I am not much of an artist but I needed pictures for a book I am writing. Before, I would pose plastic artists mannequins and take a picture with my digital camera, then put the pictures into The Gimp and add faces, clothes etc. Now I can do it all in Blender with this add-on. I first thought it was to restrictive as far as samples but I have learned how to modify completed characters to make them more like what I had envisioned. Oliver Post has been great about sharing information about how to do what I need to do (I'm not a Blender Guru by any stretch of the imagination) All in all, I'm very pleased with this add-on and I have had hours of fun playing with it.

This addon is astounding. I'm still playing with adding mocap, etc. but the models are beautiful. In fact, I developed a procedure to use these models for a training exercise in Forensic Facial Reconstruction. Thanks so much for this wonderful addon!!!

Thanks for the review, Susan! Very cool to hear you've been able to implement Human Generator in forensics!

To me this is a great addon. Its still in development but the stable version is production ready. The developers are really helpful. Been in touched with Oliver all the time regarding issues. And for all there were solutions. There is obviously still a lot that can be done, but it will come in time.

Great package over all. Results look great in game engines as well, specifically tested in Unity HDRP (after some material fiddling post-import). Facial rig is very good. A few minor spots I hope can be smoothed over in future versions: I'd love to have alternate meshes that are a bit less dense (~35% fewer polygons could theoretically be perceptually lossless) for game engines. While the facial rig is generally very good, the handles don't always behave predictably, or I don't always know how to move them to get the result I'm after. Maybe just user error. Some of the built-in clothing deforms very strangely around the shoulders in t-pose.

Broadly speaking, this is a really solid package if you need a very realistic looking human that will be about 80% of the way there. Depending on your usage, especially if you plan to export to a game engine, you'll end up needing to do some work manually like adding eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair cards. Realistically, you'll probably want to also dive in to modeling your own clothes - the star of the package is the actual human base mesh and the high quality materials for the body.

Again, this would be an absolutely perfect package for my needs if there were a slightly decimated version of the mesh (the head especially is really dense for a game engine), so hopefully that's a possibility.

      Hey Jason,
Thanks for the review and feedback!

The main reason we decided to add more resolution in the face is to get high quality face deformations. However, I understand that a total polycount of 25k faces is on the high side for some projects, so we are looking at possibilities for poly reduction that could be applied somewhere in the process of creating a human.

For the handles of the face rig, did you use them on the default rig or on Rigify. A bugfix release that launched today has fixed an issue where the handles in Rigify could move anywhere instead of just on their active axis.

For the weird deformation on the shoulders of the T-Pose, if possible, send us a screenshot so we can take a look at this problem.

    Unfortunately I can`t recommend this add-on.
    1. it have to less possibilities, character faces etc.
    2. just standard skin colors (a few)
    3. a free tool called "MakeHuman" is much much better and yeah it it free!!!

    • Oliver Post

      Hey Kletschka,
Sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the add-on.
May I ask if you tried the V2 update? It improved on many areas you mention in adding a lot of extra customization options and many more skin textures.

As for MakeHuman you mention. I think that's also a good tool, but quite different from Human Generator in what it aims to do. I recommend people to take a look at both and decide what fits their workflow best.

I was hesitant to buy it at first, well, I was wrong. This is a good addon, I love it. Hopefully in the future we will get stylized characters.

Awesome to hear you like the add-on, Munyaradzi! We might do some experiments with stylized characters, but the main focus is on photorealism at the moment
