The Smooth Boundary addon is visible in Edit Mode in the Sidebar (hotkey N) > Smooth Boundary. To smooth a boundary, select an object in Object Mode, switch to Edit Mode and make a face or edge selection. If faces are selected, the boundary of the selected faces will be smoothed. If only edges are selected, these edges will be smoothed. A closed-loop edge selection is not required. In the last case, the first and last vertices will be fixed on their original position. Press "Smooth Boundary" to start the process. Then, a preview of the smooth boundary will appear in the 3D View. Now, the number of Edge Subdivisions can be altered using the A and D keys. When increased, the boundary edges will be subdivided for a smoother, more continuous result. The Smoothing Factor can be changed using the W and S keys, which can be increased for a smoother result. Press RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON/ESCAPE to cancel the process or LEFT MOUSE BUTTON/ENTER/RETURN to confirm.
* Show Preview In Front
If this option is enabled, the smoothed boundary preview will be drawn in front of other objects when "Smooth Boundary" is pressed, for better visual inspection.
* Smoothing Method
This menu gives two options for how the mesh geometry is handled during smoothing, either "Cut New Geometry" or "Use Existing Geometry". When set to "Cut New Geometry", the smoothed boundary of the selection will be cut into the object as new geometry (new faces, edges and vertices). When "Use Existing Geometry" is selected, the existing geometry of the mesh will be used. Only edge subdivisions are allowed to give a smoother result - which will produce n-gons.
* Default Edge Subdivisions
The default number of edge subdivisions (ranging from 0 to 3) at the start of the smooth boundary process. This value can be changed in the smooth boundary preview using the A and D keys.
* Default Smoothing Factor
The default smoothing factor (ranging from 1 to 250) at the start of the smooth boundary process. This value can be changed in the smooth boundary preview using the W and S keys.
