Rigged Fantasy Books
Outliner:
Each book is placed in a separate collection together with its own controllers. This allows easier control through the scene's Outliner.
Mesh Model and Rig:
A book model consists of two mesh objects: Cover (with the lock) and pages. Each book has its own skeleton rig, you can rotate the lock, open the strap and lastly the book itself.
Controllers:
Controllers are separate curve objects which control different bones through drivers. The use of Drivers instead of Constraints allows for a more glitch-free manipulation of the mesh, whereas Constraints have shown to cause strange mesh deformations when pushed over certain degrees of rotation.
Drivers' influences over the bones is measured and distributed for a more realistic movement (e.g. pages bending when the book opens).
Materials and Textures:
Each book has three materials: one for the cover, one for the pages and one for the metal parts (studs and the fastener). They make use of Base Color, Normal, Roughness and Metallic Maps. These are 4096x4096 .png files you can get a hold of in the Shading workspace.
Scene:
The scene also includes a backdrop, three cameras, and a simple lighting setup that includes the world Shader using one of Blender's default HDR images - all of this is used in the renders you see on the product page. These items are placed in their own collection, which is not selectable by default.
Animation:
A very basic keyframe animation of opening the book(s) is included in the scene.
How to use:
The product is a .blend file, so you can append the books to your .blend projects, or have them exported as you see fit.
