Realistic Horse, Rigged And Animated

    I have been toying around with this horse model for about two hours and am very satisfied with my purchase. To give other potential buyers a little insight from my blender-beginner point of view, I shall list the pros and cons I found so far.

    Positive:
    - Model has a really nice and reasonably detailed sculpt
    - UV-Mapping is neat and tidy (logical seam-placement)
    - The Rig/Control-Rig is very well done (creator suggests an additional rigging add-on, but the rig is fully functional without it and is easy enough to grasp as is)
    - The particle systems for all hair (mane, tail, lashes, whiskers, body) are ordered nicely and they work very well (hair aesthetics, collision behavior, etc.) But a little tweaking [especially for the tail] is required)
    - The included animations are pretty and fairly realistic. The movement has some of the hard to capture "spring" of the leg joints incorporated. They can be looped and seem to blend together nicely [I only tried walk into trot so far]

    Neutral:
    - The horse is definitely on the slimmer side. Especially flank and rump. (Or maybe my opinion is just influenced by my own big-butt reining horse?)
    - Horse is gender-neutral
    - A little misnomer happened and the animation for the gait "trot" is called "canter" instead

    Negative:
    - The textures seem to be the weak spot in the package. Little detail on the body, weird splotch of discoloration between the hindlegs (Maybe an abandoned attempt for the horse's "gentleman parts"? I'm not sure, but it looks weird.) and I'm a bit worried about the difficulty of changing the horse's color. (But maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself there.)
    - Poor Horse has no teeth. Or tongue. Or anything in that area. So no eating, drinking or other horsey mouth behavior
    - Elbow and Knee Joints behave a little peculiar. Squishing and folding the mesh of their respective leg and chest or belly in a weird way, but it's not too bad and can be seen mostly in the faster gaits/stronger movements. It's visible in the provided video demo as well and can be fairly judged by any one interested in purchasing.

    Over all I am happy to have dared the purchase and leave my thanks to the creator for providing a beginner-friendly, proper horse model with a great rig and good basic animations.

    i purchased the horse. The rigging is well done. And the particle mane and tail are good to go. However, I'm at a dead end trying to disover where the Walk, trot, and gallop animation are located.

      Hi!
      Thanks for the purchase!
      So, the animations are saved as actions, you should be able to access them via the action dropdown in the dopesheet editor if you want to work on them, or in the NLA editor via add > add action strip (Shift-A) and then choose which one you want. You can then loop them, change their speed and so on.
