Procedural Mineral Super Shader - 10 Materials + Make Your Own

by Tim Zoet in Surfacing

10 Materials - And More!

This material pack is more than just a collection of 10 fully procedural materials. All materials were created using a collection of easy to use node groups and one versatile shader, all of which are included in this product. With those node groups, creating your own materials is like playing with LEGOs: hook them up, play around with the settings, and create some beautiful layered minerals.

From highly compressed layers of hard stone, to translucent and distorted rocks, whether it is a real-life material you wish to create or something that doesn't even exist yet -  it's all possible.

10 Real-Life Materials

All these materials are based on existing minerals. You can use them directly in your scene, adapt them or use them as inspiration for creating your own minerals.

  • Agate
  • Aventurine
  • Carnelian
  • Jade
  • Jasper
  • Lapis Lazuli
  • Malachite
  • Obsidian
  • Onyx
  • Tiger's Eye

8 Node Groups - 1 Shader

There are 8 node groups to create layers, noise, dents, cracks and distortions. Combine them to create an interesting pattern and then use the Mineral shader to control the physical properties of your material.

Documentation Included

Although the material nodes are very well organized, some extra documentation is always welcome. All 8 node groups and the shader are documented in the enclosed PDF. On top of that, there are 4 whole pages on the Malachite material, explaining how it was created to equip you with the knowledge to create your own materials.
