Procedural Gas Giant & 2D Molecular Cloud Bundle
Create your own unique realistic gas giants and molecular cloud/nebula backgrounds in minutes with this fully procedural setup. You can easily incorporate these assets in into your own project by appending the materials and collections in this .blend file into your Blender project.
There are no images in this Blender file - only procedural shader nodes that you can customize and animate. The planet system is built with Geometry Nodes, so all the objects are easily animated and/or modified. (If you prefer, you can attach the planet materials to your own objects).
The planet system is a Jupiter-like gas giant (with a customizable great spot) with several moons and a ring system. It comes with three prebuilt versions you can find in the Asset Manager. The Molecular Cloud is a 2D World Shader that comes with eight prebuilt versions you can find in the Asset Manager. The Molecular Cloud works great in Cycles (best in GPU render) and in Eevee (but slower). The Procedural Gas Giant currently only works in Cycles. Rendering time is around 1.5 minutes per frame at 1080p on an RTX 2070 laptop. The camera's proximity to the planet effects render time. As the textures are fully procedural, you can get the camera very close to them to reveal unfolding detail. You can also animate the texture coordinates in the shader nodes to create atmospheric movement. All the shader nodes and geometry nodes are labeled and organized for easy understanding. These textures can also be baked down for use in other applications (minus the volumetric shaders). This is version 2.0. New versions with more variations and features are in the works.
Some intermediate experience with Blender shader nodes and geometry nodes is highly recommended.
