I have been looking for procedural generators for eyes and this one is by far the EASIEST and most powerful to set up for my eye textures (tried doing my own in Substance Designer and it didn't look good to me). I am working on a project where the textures will be used outside of Blender in a real-time Unity project involving characters and so far I am very impressed with the results of the textures, and how fast I can generate them.

I don't use Blender in my day-to-day, but here are some things that I would love to see in an update:

1). I am looking in the node editor and I wanted to change the resolution and file format to as high as my machine can handle (I discovered that the iris texture is not 2048x2048, but 2047x2048) since I will be post-processing the textures inside of Substance Designer to get the textures to be compliant with my Unity shaders. I want to have the iris texture to be at least 4096 for maximum detail.

2). The shape keys from the Iris don't work within the Visualization Mode of the eye. I would love to be able to generate Signed Distribution Fields to control in my eye shader in Unity, just by changing the blendshape so this would be a WELCOME addition. I learned that you have added cat eyes. Sweet.

3). Lastly, I would love to be able to use my own eyeball meshes with the custom UVs.

I have NO REGRETS about buying this! And this will make my eye look EXTREMELY realistic in game.

This generator is, hands-down, the best and easiest way to make amazing eyes in blender. Whether you are an amateur or professional, you will be blown away by the results. And not only that, but the creator is incredibly quick to respond to questions and feedback, meaning that you will be more quickly able to get the most bang for your buck out of this tool right from the get-go. I can't recommend this tool enough. Go check it out and have your mind blown. I guarantee it will happen.

For this eye generator, I have been testing and suggesting new improvements by messaging to the author for many times since April 2021. The author Cesar is very professional, patient to listen my every suggestion and criticism, and ardent to make a serious commitment upon the betterment of this eye generator – the level of this commitment is well beyond what the standard technical support at Blender Market can typically offer, and well beyond how much the current business profit generated by selling this product can compensate this effort.

After my multiple-features requests and discussion with the author within the recent several months, the version of this eye generator went from V1.2 to the current version V2.78, and the following features had been implemented in one way or another:

    1) The color of the iris can now be darken much more than any previous version can, so that you can make more realistic black or dark-brown eyes.

    2) An important parameter “Edge Darkness” is now added to adjust the level of darkness on the limbus ring (i.e. the edge of the iris). This is a crucial parameter to enhance the realism of the eye.

    3) The materials and the radius of subsurface scattering have been overhauled and optimized. According to the author, the subsurface scattering is no longer simulated but now real, and this requires the generation of fewer textures to save resources in comparison with previous versions older than V2.66. Moreover, the transparency of the sclera is now smoother, and there are also more improvements to the radial and circular rings. With all these deep structure changes, what I notice is that the fibre and branches in the iris can naturally fade away at the limbus ring so that the transition between the iris and the sclera becomes more natural and realistic.

    4) There are also important structural color changes along with the adjustment on the contrast, and a new parameter is added to get better control on the hue. This enables the generated iris to have more color variation than in the previous version, so that it gives you more control upon the color.

    5) A new parameter is added to shift the location of the branches in the iris.

    6) To make it more anatomically accurate, the default diameter of the whole eyeball is now changed to approximately 24 mm, and the default diameter of the iris is changed to approximately 12 mm (from less than 10 mm previously in the older version V1.2). Furthermore, the shape of the cornea is also improved.

    7) Initially, I wanted to have a feature to use a parameter to easily change the diameter of the iris, but the implementation was too difficult. To work around this problem, the author decides to change the size of the eye-white by adding Shape keys. Specifically, the size of the “sclera surface” and “sclera wet” can now be adjusted by two separated Shape keys. Please keep in mind that in the current version V2.78, the two separated and adjusted values have to be the exactly same, otherwise it may render incorrectly, such as a rendered crevice on the eye-white.

    8) The "Unit Scale" of the eyeball in V2.66 or older versions is set to "0.016000”, which could cause a size-problem when export the eyeball into any other Blender file, which has the standard value 1.0 for the "Unit Scale". But now in the current version V2.78 this value is fixed to the standard value "1.000000".

    9) Although using a parameter to change the scale of the iris may be difficult to implement, it is now possible to manually change the size of the iris. In order to do that, you may need to tweak some values on the node tree. The author has made a short video recording the detailed steps, so please contact the author for how to do it correctly.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the rendered result. I highly appreciate the tremendous effort from the author to patiently work with me, so that almost all my wishes finally become a reality. Interestingly, during this process of the improvement, we both have learned some important knowledge on how to make realistic human eyes.

The exciting Blender 3.X is just about two months away from the launch. It contains new features, like Cycle X and Geometric nodes. I believe that in the future we will be able to render realistic and optical caustics under the cornea, and maybe use Geometric nodes to create some interesting fiber and branches in the iris.

Regarding the review, which I have read in detail, I have to say that it seems very appropriate. Undoubtedly, you have led me to be more meticulous and to get a much better generator, valuing those details that I have not payed so much attention to.

Yes, I am also waiting for that version of Blender 3x and Cycles X. I hope they make a significant improvement with the caustics and the physically correct light diffraction.

Finally, I want transfer you that it has been a pleasure working with you, and tell you that I am at your disposal for any advice that may be of use to you.

Thank you so much for this, it means a lot to me!

    Zero buyers remorse.
    This is excellent.
Im impressed by how easy it is to get whatever eyes i want.

Even if you don't like eyes... buy it.. the absolutely-intense-beautiful-nightmare-fever dream of a node system is worth it!

Solid eyes; esp liked the option of getting left and right eye alternates with only one setting changed. Some anatomical additions could make this totally 5-star. The best available for blender!

Works really well, the only thing that would be a nice addition is the ability to change the size of the iris!
