Mt Rushmore
This model requires micropoly displacement to work. At this moment only version 2.78 of Blender is capable of that in experimental mode.
I kept it all pretty simple. Just some medium resolution meshes, color maps, displacement maps and that's it. No fancy shaders, just diffuse, no bump maps. The trees were made in blender with sapling and distributed as instances with the plugin Random Object Array. You don't need that plugin for the model to work. It was just the best way to make a bunch of instanced trees, which use fewer computer resources than if I had used a particle system.
There is a single light as the sun. I have mist composited in because without it, it looked like a desktop miniature
I think the model would benefit from a nice wrap around hdri map and lighting. It's winter here in South Dakota so I can't make one yet. If I do, I may add it later this summer. No guarantees.
