Let’S Learn Animated Character Creation In 3D

by Crossmind Studio in Training

What's the difference between the YouTube version and the paid version?

As part of an initiative, we started a few years ago, we have been adding free educational material on our YouTube channel. Similarly, a few chapters of this course, which include processes from modeling to shading, will also be uploaded to YouTube every month, chapter by chapter. However, the Premium edition on Gumroad unlocks the full course, including the complete process from modeling, UV, shading, rigging overview, rigging with riggify, weight painting, props manual rigs, pose library setup, animating walk cycles, detailing secondary animations, adding expressions, cloth simulations, creating a background with geometry nodes and procedural shaders, lighting, final rendering, and compositing. In addition to bonus content, it also comes with project files, animated bonus scenes, subtitles, rendered sequences with passes, and users can download the complete course at the time of purchase for offline viewing.

I am an absolute beginner; can I watch this series?

If you have never used Blender before, I suggest you clear the basics first. Please check out this series, which helps with basics: (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgO2ChD7acqH5S3fCO1GbAJC55NeVaCCp). After this, it will be easier for you to follow along with the new concepts introduced in this course.

Will this course be compatible with the next release?

As long as there are no major changes to the interface of Blender, this course should be compatible. The last major UI change Blender received was recently during version 3.0, and the same will be followed in upcoming versions as well.

What version are you using in this course?

I am using Pre-release 4.0, but this tutorial is compatible with previous versions as well. A few improvements and updates in rigify and shading nodes have been mentioned, comparing both the old and new versions. You can also follow along with the LTS version.

I haven't used sculpting before. Can I still follow this series?

Absolutely! This course primarily relies on fundamental modeling techniques accessible in edit object mode, such as extrusion, loop tools, bevels, and edge loops. We've covered these commands in our introduction series as well. Recognizing that 3D modeling encompasses various challenges, our aim is to clarify essential concepts without overwhelming users. Throughout this series, participants will learn about topology basics, organic shape modeling, maintaining model cleanliness, and managing mesh resolution using commands introduced at a beginner level.

Do I need any third-party plugins to follow this series

No, this series utilizes Blender's built-in tools exclusively. Add-ons like Node Wrangler, Rigify, and Loop Tools are included in Blender and can be activated from the preferences. You won't need to install any third-party tools to follow along.

Where can I access the textures and resources used in the series?

All the textures featured in this series are available for download from the resource board provided with the product. The board includes files for each texture or links to the original sites for downloading.
