the Add on is very usefull, 5 star for sure. But there's a cons:
the inside tutorial is not updated with the last version (albedo is referred as Diffuse, minor thing, but can be updated. Also some steps are not extremly clear, so it's easy get lost (see steps:18 /19 /20). I suggest to update the inside tutorial with some more steps and a bit more clear. Despite that this add-on wil save you a LOT of time.
The new Ui is very intuitive.

Layer Painter adds texturing tools inside Blender that should be in program as default. You don't have to work with nodes anymore and working with layers is way more effective and nondestructive. I actually asked Joshua to add "eraser tool" to Blender because program itself doesn't provide that! If you have something to ask, just contact Joshua. He is very helpful and actually is listening what people are asking for.

Please look at this addon with patience, this developer is giving us Substance Painter/designer power inside Blender and with version 1.2 he got closer than ever.
If you don't want/need to work with nodes this is actually the best option out there, you don't like to connect super small dots with lines in the shader editor? You're gonna love simple clicks on tabs.
Instead of writing about bugs here people should contact Joshua directly he's going to support as best as he can and with good thoughful reviews we can help him/ourselves in making this the best texturing addon for Blender. I cannot stress enough how much powerful this is in combo with ExtremePBR, it was only a dream I had in mind before the developer actually made it. Thanks a lot for your work.

I tried this addon from the beginning, before it was released, and the first releases it was a bit hard to get the hang of it. But now the UI and workflow is hugely improved. Didn't use it for a while and understood the latest release in a few minutes without manual or reading anything. I even skipped the internal tutorial. I know from now on (version 1.2), that I will use this addon very frequent. And that is the best indicator for me that an addon is good. Thanks for the hard work!

I'm starting to get into it and I really like how it's integrated in the interface. I was able to customise it so my workspace looks almost like Photoshop's ui. However there is a big issue with this addon, which is a lack of proper tutorial or any instuctions. I spent a lot of time trying to find any information on how to work with it, but it's just all over the place. I think the only thing this great addon needs(badly) is a coherent manual that outlines all of it's features and at least a couple of step-by-step tutorials on how to make some cool looking stuff

There's a full manual here: https://joshuaknauber.github.io/layerpainter/getting_started/ and there are a few video tutorials coming

It's not bad, it could be a really great addon, but it does not feel very stable. It crashed blender a few times, also in some cases I got errors when doing stuff. Also the UI is hard to read, even with the documentation. It is still better than the default texture paint in blender.

Could you please message me about the errors and crashes you're getting so those can be fixed?

    I like this, it works.
But one key thing that is missing a Guide on how to use it!!! 90% of the time We want a toy that is useable from out the box, The Timelapse Video is useless to many that then have you reading an Ikea manual. I did ask for a non-timelapse video and guide. but now feel I wasted 3 days of reading instructions for where to put the batteries.

would have been 5 stars had I not wasted time reading manuals

Ok, I understand your point, here's how I thought about it when making the documentation: I assumed that the core functionality, meaning adding layers and changing their settings could be figured out just by installing the add-on. Then you could watch the timelapse to get an understanding of how a normal workflow with LayerPainter would look. From then on you could look at the documentation to understand specific features in more detail.
This way, I thought, it'd be relatively easy to pick up the add-on.
I'm sorry if that wasn't the case for you, I'm looking into more detailed tutorials and of course you can always ask me if you have questions.
