Inserts For Kit Ops
How to install the inserts:
Note: Frequently I release new packs, and that's why you see several .zip files in the downloads.
You can download the .zip files (of your choice) and add them to KIT OPS as follows:
Method 1)
- Download and Unpack the .zip file(s) of your choice.
- Copy (or Move) these folders (For example the folders: NMS_01, NMS_02, NMS_Cutters, NMS_Modifiers, etc) in a folder where KIT OPS is installed named: Master.
- On Windows you will find this folder likely here;
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.79\scripts\addons\kitops\Master - Appdata is a hidden folder that you can turn on in the File Explorer in the menu under tab View > hidden items. Restart Blender and navigate to the KIT OPS addon.
- Under KPACKS in KIT OPS in Blender, you will see the inserts.
The .py file installs like any other addon: In Blender navigate to Edit > Preferences > Addons. Click Install, navigate to the .py file you just downloaded, and install. Save preferences. You will find the small addon in the N-Panel and it will be active when you use one of the GeoTech inserts.
Method 2 - easier)
You can also install the unzipped folders of your choice directly in KIT OPS's preferences. Here you see my setup:
The .py file installs like any other addon: In Blender navigate to Edit > Preferences > Addons. Click Install, navigate to the .py file you just downloaded, and install. Save preferences. You will find the small addon in the N-Panel and it will be active when you use one of the GeoTech inserts.
When you click on one of the folders (see screenshot above), you should see something like this:
(The NMS_connect folder is a folder where you see a bunch of .blend files and images.)

Recommended workflow when working with most basic inserts;
- Make a simple base mesh (could be a cube or a little bit flatter),
- Add a bevel-modifier. Start with width: 0.015, Segments 4 or 5, Limit Method; Angle, Angle: 30 degrees.
- Shade Smooth (Z) and in Object Data tab in the Properties panel: Autosmooth
- If you have a build with the Normal Weight Modifier, that does some magic sometimes.
- Right after using an insert (not yet applied), move the Boolean modifier before the bevel modifier. (Bevel modifier is always last).
- All you have to do now is: place insert > move modifier > place insert > move modifier etc.
Update 27 July
A lot happened with this package. For example I included more KPACKS, and the latest is very special. It contains only 4 inserts, but they are special. They are mode with Geometry Nodes and an extra addon called Insert_GeoTech.py detects a GeoTech insert and shows a UI in the N-Panel with all properties for that specific insert. Just install it like any other addon. It's not a .zip file this time, but that's ok.
