Grid Rigger
A NEW WAY TO ANIMATE!
NON-DESTRUCTIVE AUTO-RIGGING IN BLENDER
What does it do?
GridRigger creates a grid of uniquely pose-able points around your selected object(s).
By default, the grid will be created to fit the bounding box of your objects. Thanks to its non-destructive nature you can also resize, rotate and transform the grid to suit your needs (in Object mode.) Scale it to the size and location you require and/or play with the object mode transforms to create some unique animations.
How do I use it?
GridRigger can be found in the tool tab of the viewport side-panel.
make sure to check under 'tools'! (I put it here to keep your side-panel tidy)
- Set the resolution you want across each axis (how many points you want to create)
- Hit the button. You should see the rig appear.
- Next, head into pose mode to animate these deformation points!
Gridrigger utilizes typical bones alongside, the lattice modifier. I'd recommend watching some videos on blender animation or lattice modifiers if you're looking for ideas.
