Blender does not provide any events or triggers due to controller activity, and so a software check is used to periodically poll the controller which requires CPU usage. Note that CPU usage occurs only when the controller is activated from the toolbar or panel menu. 

This addon was designed to have minimal impact on CPU usage, especially during idle time periods. Further updates will provide improved CPU-utilization

You will notice that sometimes the button presses are not responsive, or you have to keep pressing a button for a longer time for it work. This is a result of the 'CPU usage' management feature which could impact the response time. Future updates will further improve responsiveness with minimal impact on CPU utilization
