What is Exact Decimate?

Your mesh will be optimized to match the specified triangle count or even lower (depending on the initial triangle count). Need to make adjustments? No problem. Enter a new triangle count, hit 'Decimate' again, and watch your model update. Once you're satisfied with the results, just apply the created Decimate modifier.

Limitations

Exact Decimate relies on the Blender Decimate modifier, which means it inherits any limitations associated with this modifier.
Decimating high-resolution assets can be time-consuming and may vary depending on your system specifications. As an example, the process for a high-resolution model, like the hair model mentioned above, could take around 10 minutes. It's important to note that Blender reruns the process when you apply the modifier. For efficient workflow, consider decimating down to a more manageable triangle count (e.g., 1,000,000 or less), apply the modifier, and then use that as a starting point if further reduction is necessary. Your machine and spare time will thank you.
