Ok , maybe I'm no normal guy but as a Blender user since years , I was scary to begin learning Kit Ops and Simple Scifi because it looks .... NOT CLEAR , NOT CLEAVER , NOT REALLY USER FRIENDLY and a pain in the ass to just ... find ONLY the infos I need to begin and evaluate if I like it. The process to evaluate if it's for me is very sad to go through , long and not user friendly.
The thing is that you buy this pack with the idea it's as easy as with Geoscatter to work with. No ... oh no. They are telling you that you can use it with Simple Scifi or Kit Ops free versions .... but wait ... there is Simple Scifi FLEX ... and there is Kit Ops Pro and ... sincerely , I really quickly felt stunned in a bad way. Kit-Ops and Simple Scifi felt to my like a zero intuitive system badly documented based on selling pro versions more than making the user understand quickly how to setup Dpack and make a basic scene. The beginning of the videos talks too much about the pro version and we didn't even test the simple one . It's like ... you give tutorials that aims to make the user tell himself ( ok if I want to test it decently and understand better the FIRST tutorial I see supposed to explain me the simple version , I'll have anyway to pay for it as it's misleading already in the first minutes of the videos , mixing infos between 2 versions which are made differently a bit and then ... come on ... man !!! Give me a video only for the basic free version and make another for your pro , never mix like that at the beginning. As an autistic guy , it's non sense and it's very very poor marketing making the experience worst. The problem is not the Dpack but the ways you'll have to manage them that are not pleasing , not easy on the learning curve at all and ... badly .. very badly documented. I had to figure myself to unpack some folders and how to link them, which folder to specify in the 3-4 folders etc etc and still I don't understand quickly if I like this Dpack system. I find it ... problematic and ... well thought but badly coded .
It's not te be unfair but when you create something , don't try to go everywhere like an insane dog because you, the creator , know the product is good . The user may not want to loose 2 nights trying to figure how to place his files and just get a first try . I had no instructions for quick start. We have to pass through all and all the very boring videos of Simple Scify Pro ... trying to show you the paid version but ... CAN WE JUST TRY IT correctly before going through 14 minutes of videos ? 14 minutes for a simple start and it's claimed to make super nice results in 3 minutes . Just a page with ALL the working basis like a lot of other addons or pack I bought is necessary . It's a disease on Blendermarket having creators relying almost only on videos instead of giving short text tutorials going straight to the points . After trying , we want to see the marketing videos and all the long speeches . It's the "I want to learn more " step that the Kit Ops and Scifi addons ... just forgot and it ruined all my experience. It's not the first addon or pack I buy and I tell myself " Got damned , what a freaky thing ... is this ? I shouldn't be agressive trying to figure where do I go with this. I'm normally a very patient man.
Maybe you know at the final your packs are super ultra nice and Kit Ops paids addons are better but we need a simple video for the simple versions of both first. I don't go into some kind of freak bunch of applications going everywhere. I feel : " Do me a addon that does ALL I need and stop this Sci-Fi Flex , not Flex , Kit-Ops pro ... not pro if you're not able to deliver a short simple beginning video for each versions and a SHORT explanation on what are the differences.
The guy that created addons to make this Dpack work ( Chipp ) is nice , I'm sure but he want's to seduce us so much with his 14 ... 20 minute videos one after another to just be able to ... finally do the 3 minutes scatter on our first map. It's too long steps to test , not intuitive enough.
If I need 5 hours just to figure by myself how to install and link Dpacks to Simple Scifi , how to texture the result I see , to understand if I need also Kit Ops to make it work etc , it's not user friendly . At Simple Scifi website , we don't clearly go through FIRST the installation process and how to link our Dpacks to the basic version. They start with long speech and explainations , talking already about the PRO we DONT want to buy before we see what it's really about.
For me , when the same company creates Kit Ops to do scattering , Kit Ops Pro to do scattering , Simple Scifi to do scattering of scifi and ..... Simple Scifi FLEX to do scattering of scifi .... with better like ... better N-Menu .... and ... come on !!! Is it a disease ? Will they do Simple City and Simple City Flex next for city scattering ? It's completely stunning and I don't feel I want to know more when just installing and understanding the very base of a pack is such a sad experience. It's like Kit Ops or Simple Scifi are not aiming us to really test the thing with free options. Normally , I'm pretty nice on the reviews but when there is no documentation , no FAQ and that the Simple Scifi tells us to rely on the Dpack instructions , not them ... it's like a bad joke. I have not a lot of respect for that. Probably it's not so complicated and normally I ask to the creator before to write reviews but sincerely , I was so upset after some minutes having deceptions after deceptions. I feel instructions is the VERY basis people never should neglect and it they are not there or not clear , not intuitive and not organized enough , you can't tell to the reviewer he didn't try first to reach the creator. As a IT myself , I never have to reach the creators for such things normally so it's a failure other Blender users should be aware of. It's sad because it's not this pack's creator's fault initially but the only way we have to use his product is .... ... sincerely very disapointing at my point of view. Chipp needs good teams to help him organize his things. He's not bad at all I'm sure but sometimes geek people are in their own world and forget others don't live in their world. It's the feeling I have.
It's a chance Geoscatter's biomes are well explained in only some basic tutorial lines. I was able to install in less than 15 minutes , all the assets and files were configurated and the way to do it was VERY user friendly. Then after 1 hour , I was already scattering with using of display boxes etc and I was like ... SOOO impressed. I'm still impressed by them so I didn't need another product that was very much complicated on the learn curve. I gave a chance but I'm disapointed. The concept of displacement art is nice but ... it definitely need a clear and precise way . Not 2-3-4-6 addons all doing ... variants of others. It needs order and clear instructions and I don't feel it's a ... bad review I make. I could give 2 stars for the lack of intuitive process, lack of intuitive installation , lack of clarity because Simple Scifi tells us to rely on the non existent instructions for Dpack installations on the Dpack site which is this pack page on Blendermarket.
I wasn't able to identify which way I needed to go for my needs. I give 4 STARS just as I feel these packs may give stunning results , I give 4 STARS because I feel the concept is nice but it's a big fail for my experience . The problem is I been stunned trying to just make this work INTUITIVELY. If you only have long youtube videos to give us .. .. I'm no happy . The video tutorial is not liked by everyone and ... sometimes give additionnal infos we will need a lot ONCE we tested .
I'm not sure I'll keep this without asking refund to market. What I wanted is just simple . I DREAM about technicians that deliver REAL and TO-GO instructions. I understand your pack is made to work with other packs that have instructions but their instructions are telling us also to go to the Dpack creator for integrating the pack and their instructions . We're again left in a sort of ... AGGGGhhhhhh come on.
I installed Simple Scifi and then ... I ... just clicked on the .Blend file and then ... nothing intuitive showing so I can figure some basis . It's so un-intuitive we constantly feel we are still stucked.
I miss SO MUCH clear and short explainations in text without having to look at any videos to get a first experience , at least not 15 and 20 minutes videos for just a start instructions.
That's your problem guys. Your ideas are nice and cooperation too between Dpack creators and Chipp but ... it's not user friendly AT ALL and people will pay for Geoscatter , prefer Geoscatter even if your addon has cool features , cool concept and works differently. It's for geeks that want to learn a complex long curve for something they don't know if they will like. That's what I'd say. It doesn't look enough automated to be workable with Simple Scifi . All that I write here should be given to Chipp's attention and Dpack creators attention. I feel you loose a lot of money because with a nice concept like you have , you'd be supposed to have dozens or hundreds of good ratings.
When we look at Simple Scifi page, they tell us we always should rely on our Dpack instructions to install etc ... but there is NOTHING on this page in the documentation section or FAQ so I'm not sure I understand the mega super nice reviews here. For something that has 2 years old , only 5-6 positive reviews could indicate there is a problem here with users retention ... and that first reviewers were maybe old users from previous Dpack techniques , friends from Chipp etc. They find it super cool because they put all their energy in a system , a complete complicated system of displacement like Kit-Ops or Simple Scifi Flex or ... the next Simple Scifi Flex Pro ... and after this , the Simple Scifi Flex Pro Plus ? The process of learning curve is heavy for nothing , it has to be changed and I'd suggest Chipp to concentrate on a single but complete Addon like Geoscatter and integrate all in that.
You know when you are hit on the head and ... feel sick ? I feel like this a bit. Trying the FREE versions of both Simple Scifi or Kit Ops is not user friendly , not fast to figure how to use , not " to the point " and not made to be intuitive. It's made like we will have to go through long videos to understand the universe in which the creators lives before we decide we love the concept. . That's what I feel . To understand the concept and working ... it's a too long investment which will loose a lot of users, even pretty advanced on Blender. Ok , for 14$ , I didn't ruin myself and I can't expect to compare with a 50 to 70$ scattering system .... but .... if Chipp wants to compete Geoscatter , he has to fix himself on the users needs ... and our first testing experience.
I may be wrong you know but I'm happy I paid 50$ for Geoscatter because it's delivering the complete opposite in terms of understanding what the basic user needs , how to give tutorials. Actually , trying this pack convinced me to stick for the moment to Geoscatter and not buying again Dpacks or Kpacks . Like I told , the only reason I give 4 stars is for the concept and as I'm and autistic guy , I know how to identify good concepts. The problem is the Chipp's vehicle .... and the vehicle's intuitive environment. The long process to finally be able to test and figure : " Do I like This. "

I use these items to put some more life into rooms of my scifi-game by adapting them slightly. With them I can create boxes, doors and other equipment easily. They are done very well and it is fun to work with them. Highly appreciated!
