Chieftain Fv4201 Main Battle Tank
Detailed model of a fv4201 CHIEFTAIN main battle tank as used by the British Army during most of the Cold War.
Modelling and Rigging
The model consists of a total of 560,819 vertices and 554,883 faces, in multiple separate meshes to facilitate animation. The wheels and tracks are fully rigged to realistic turn when the main ROOT empty is animated along it's local Y-axis or rotated around it's local Z-axis. The turret can also be rotated separately; as can the commanders cupola, the top-mounted searchlight and machine gun; the main gun can be rotated up and down and the hatches on the main hull and turret can be opened or closed (there is no interior however, just a recessed black space).
Materials and Textures
The model is fully unwrapped with non-overlapping UVs. It uses four PRB materials - the main hull, the smaller details on the hull, the turret, and the running gear. Each material comes with five 4k texture maps - base colour, metallic, roughness, normal and ambient occlusion - the turret also comes with an opacity map and all UV layouts are included for all materials. Materials were created using Cycles but should work in any renderer that uses the metallic PBR workflow.
