Antique Plant Table

by Ed Ackerman in Models

Description:

This is a model of an Antique Eastlake Victorian Turn Carved Spindle Leg Walnut Plant Stand or Table from the late 19th century.  It features tall, angled spindle legs, stretcher base, a fine wood-grain finish and a drawer.   The main drawer can be opened and closed. Also included is a model of a fern plant in a terracotta pot.  This plant would have been common to find in Victorian homes.  These models can be used in a period or contemporary scene.  They are of sufficient detail that they can be rendered in close-up.

 Usage:

The models are contained in a single .blend file with all textures/images/materials packed inside.  To use them, you can append them into your scene as follows:

Go to the File Menu and pull down to Append

Find the Antique_Plant_Stand_w_Plant.blend file and double-click on it.

Double Click on the Collection Icon

Select the “Append_Plant_Stand” and/or the “Append_Plant” collection and click Append

Note that the model components are all parented to a master Empty Item represented by the large labeled axis.  You can move or rotate this Empty Item to adjust the location and orientation of the model(s). There is a separate Empty Item for the plant which can be used to orient the plant separately from the Plant Stand if desired. The main drawer is parented to and Empty Item represented by a wire-frame sphere. To pull out the drawer, select its sphere Empty and move it.  Constraints prevent motion and rotation in any direction other than in or out.

Technical:

The plant stand and plant were modeled in Blender 3.3.2 and utilize PBR shaders with some procedural color adjustment.  Materials work in both Cycles and Eevee.  If you are rendering in Eevee, enable Ambient Occlusion in the Render Properties panel and adjust the parameters to your liking.

Please note that some materials used in this model make use of the Color Mix node.  If this model is to be used with Blender 3.4 and later, the Color Mix node will automatically be converted to the newer Mix node which replaces it and should look and render fine.  However, once converted and saved with Blender 3.4 and later, the material will no longer work with Blender versions prior to 3.4.
