Antique Fireplace

Please note that some materials used in this model make use of the Color Mix node.  If this model is to be used with Blender 3.4 and later, the Color Mix node will automatically be converted to the newer Mix node which replaces it, and should look and render fine.  However, once converted and saved with Blender 3.4 and later, the material will no longer work with Blender versions prior to 3.4.

Description:

This is a model of an antique Victorian era fireplace.  It features a large mantle, carved wood rosette and other carved ornamentation.  It is made of walnut with walnut parquet inlay, a brick and slate firebox, cast iron andirons and grate, wooden logs, and flames which can be turned on or off.  This model would look good in a period interior scene, or it could add some warmth to a more contemporary interior scene.  It is of sufficient detail that it renders well in close-up. 

Usage:

The model is contained in a single .blend file with all textures/images/materials packed inside.  To use it in your scene, you can append it as follows:

Go to the File Menu and pull down to Append

Find the “Antique_Fireplace.blend” file and Double Click on it.

Double Click on the Collection icon.

Select the “Append_Antique_Fireplace” collection and Click Append

Note that the model components are all parented to a master Empty Item represented by the large labeled axis.  You can move or rotate the Empty to adjust the location and orientation of the model as shown below left.  

The flames in the fireplace can be hidden if they are not desired in your scene.  To do this, go to the Outliner and look for the Fire collection.  Click on the check-box to toggle the flames off.  You can hide the logs in the same way by clicking on the check-box in the logs collection.

The Antique Fireplace was modeled in Blender 3.1 and uses PBR and procedural shaders.

Subdivision modifiers are used on some of the components to make the rendered result smoother. These subdivision modifiers will display when rendered, but are not currently set to display in the 3D viewport. They can be enabled by clicking on the viewport icon in the modifier properties tab for each part.

Images were rendered in Cycles.  All materials work in Eevee as well.  If you are rendering in Eevee you should enable Ambient Occlusion, Bloom, Volumetric Lighting, and Volumetric Shadows in the Render Properties tab.  If rendering in Cycles, please ensure that you have some bounces enabled under Volume in the Light Paths entry of the Render tab.  Depending on the rest of your scene, number of bounces may need to be increased.
