2020 Cyber Weekend Sale Results
Each year Blender Market runs a four-day product sale from Black Friday through Cyber Monday (BFCM). This year, due to technical difficulties on the first day of the sale, we extended the Cyber Weekend sale through to a fifth day.
Participation in this sale was completely optional. Any Creator that opted into the sale had their products discounted for the duration of the sale. Our goal with events like these is to increase product sales and thus improve the ability for Creators to run independent businesses built on their Blender products.
In the spirit of transparency, I try to make our sale results public each year. I failed to do this for 2018 but you can check out the 2017 and 2019 results. I'm happy to report that this year's sale set several new Blender Market records.
2020 Results
These numbers reflect just the five days of the sale, November 27 through December 1 of 2020. They include all purchases made during the sale (products both on sale and not on sale) and only purchases that were not refunded.
- Gross merchandise value: $468,270.48
- Creator earnings: $387,298.90
- Affiliate earnings: $17,276.26
- Total refunded revenue: $4,834.38
- Total Blender Dev. Fund donations: $9,392.49
- Blender Market gross revenue: ~$71,579.61
- Total products sold: 18,613
- Total orders: 8,626
This sale was more than twice as successful as last year's. Consider for a moment that we currently have fewer than two thousand Creators selling their products on Blender Market. That dedicated group of people, who are creating incredible new Blender products every day, are, in many cases, earning a sustainable living with items that they sell on Blender Market.
This year we also welcomed Affiliates, who helped share the news of the sale and highlight some of the amazing products that were on discount.
My thanks go out to each and every one of you who has helped Blender Market grow into what it is and to all of you who continue to push it forward into the future. 🧡
